After tons of info leaked already, the Blackberry Storm finally got the official treatment. It will be sold exclusively by Vodafone in Europe and Verizon Wireless in the US. Telius in Canada will also be pushing the device to local customers.

The Blackberry Storm is the first touchscreen device by BlackBerry. It’s got a spanking new user interface, which as it seems is fluid enough to compete the Apple iPhone with an ease. We already showed you the first official images of the device and its user interface and we even topped that with a Vodafone commercial video yesterday.

Now that the Blackberry Storm is finally announced and the specs are all clear, it turns out that it doesn’t pack Wi-Fi functionality as rumored. The Blackberry Storm 9500 will be sold through Vodafone networks and will be free on monthly plans of 35 GBP and up with an 18-month contract.

The Blackberry Storm 9530 is the variant of the handset that will be sold in North America. Along with the quad-band GSM and 2100Mhz UMTS support that the 9500 model has, it will also offer CDMA2000 1xEV-DO support. The Blackberry Storm is not yet available for purchase, but it should be soon.

With the advent of new technologies , now a person can go anywhere he likes and still have access to all emails important to be sent to your email address.These restrictions have made their mobilephone a tool for those with a lot of extra money to spend on their monthly telephone bills, and not for the rest of the world that are not as lucky. Today, most middle-end mobile phones has its own built in e-mail application that can be used to read and send e-mails in go.However, there are some major drawbacks in the use of standard telephony Mobile e-mail application that allows you to download your e-mail from their mail server to their cell phones.

Have you guys ever used an Email To Phone Service ? When I was fresh out of school and got my first job it was working in a big office and they had a service like this, it amused me greatly. I don’t even know why, but every time my phone pinged at me to let me know I had new email I got a little giddy, that feeling never wore off and I worked there for 8 months.

Smart Phones: how to choose?

Today, many are confused by the wide-ranging spectrum of mobile phone models and capabilities. For those seeking a phone with the greatest expanse of functionality, there is no better choice than a smart phone.
The smart phone is simply a cellular phone that offers higher capability above the average mobile phone. This simple definition is unfortunately complicated by the lack of an industry standard definition. One may see a smart phone as one that offers a complete keyboard with internet and email functionality, and some may only view a smart phone as a phone with a full operating system (OS) and applications.

Smart phones, as a whole, carry the ability to function as much as a cell phone as a PDA.
Most have complete email capability, web browsing, calendar support, and contact support. Extended functionality offered by various manufacturers and models include GPS or A-GPS navigation, multimedia playback, document reading or editing, integrated camera, touch screen, etc. The smart phones available on the market today are characterized by their respective operating systems, which are:

* Windows Mobile
* iPhone OS
* Symbian OS
* RIM Blackberry
* Palm OS
* Linux-based OS

Windows Mobile is a platform developed by Microsoft that supports mobile devices including smart phones. It is close in appearance and features to the desktop Windows operating systems, including a very large selection of third party applications. Windows Mobile applications can add an unlimited functionality to a smart phone within hardware limits, but some examples are Skype support, instant messaging over AIM or other protocols, RSS feeds, and media players that extend the built-in file format ability.

The iPhone OS is built by Apple to run on their iPhone. The iPhone OS is actually a stripped down, but complete version of the original OS X operating system. This OS supports media playback identical to the iPod line, but with a layout designed to take advantage of the iPhone?s multi-touch screen. It also supports a portable version of the iTunes store, third-party applications through an application store, a full version of the Safari web browser, full e-mail support with HTML and attachment viewing, maps via Google, YouTube, calendar and contacts support, photo viewing, etc.
